The Coming is the debut studio album by American rapper Busta Rhymes, released in March 26, 1996 through Elektra Records. Recording sessions took place at The Mix Palace, Nipskab Lab and Soundtrack Studios in New York City from May 1995 to January 1996. Production was handled by DJ Scratch, Rashad Smith, The Ummah, Easy Mo Bee, Rick St. Hilaire, The Vibe Chemist Backspin and Busta Rhymes himself. It features guest appearances from Zhane, Rampage, Lord Have Mercy, Q-Tip, Jamal, Redman, Keith Murray and Leaders of the New School members: Dinco D, Cut Monitor Milo and Charlie Brown.
The album reached #1on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The Coming spawned the hit singles: "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check" (which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, #6 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and #1 on the Hot Rap Singles chart) and "It's a Party" (which peaked at #52 on the Hot 100 chart in the United States). On February 1999, the album received a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after selling 1,000,000 copies in the United States.
