Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force was an American hip hop group from New York City, New York. Led by DJ Afrika Bambaataa, the group helped to establish hip hop music as a genre in the early 1980s with songs such as "Planet Rock". They were also influential in the birth of the electro movement in America, as well as modern dance music styles such as electro-funk and the entire Miami bass scene.
