Slum Village is an American hip hop group from Detroit, Michigan. The group was formed in 1996 by rappers Baatin and T3, and rapper/producer J Dilla when the trio met as classmates at Detroit Pershing High School.

Slum Village's first album, Fan-Tas-Tic Vol. 1, was not officially released until 2005 but was highly sought after in underground circles. Originally signed to the now defunct A&M record label, the group was forced to postpone the release of their official debut album due to label problems, but finally released Fantastic, Vol. 2 on Good Vibe in June 2000. They also released the album Best Kept Secret that same year, which featured remixes and leftover material from Fan-Tas-Tic Vol. 1. J Dilla left in 2002 to pursue a solo career on MCA Records, and Elzhi joined in his absence.

Baatin was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2002 and was kicked out of the group, after which he attempted to begin a solo career. The group performed as a duo, before reuniting with Baatin and later incorporating J Dilla's younger brother Illa J in 2008. The following year, Baatin died of unknown causes. In July 2010, Elzhi decided to pursue a solo career and left the group. In 2014, Illa J left the group to pursue a solo career. Slum Village currently exists as a duo of original member T3 and rapper/producer Young RJ.
