Scars and Pain is the debut EP by American rapper Jemini the Gifted One, released in 1995 on Mercury Records. The album features production work by Organized Konfusion and Buckwild, among others. According to an interview with Billboard, Jemini titled it Scars and Pain because that is what he experienced while looking for a record deal. The first single from the album, "Funk Soul Sensation", was released on 7 March 1995 with an accompanying music video.
For unknown reasons, Jemini was dropped from Mercury Records before critics were able to review the album, resulting in very little promotion. The album was never officially released, with only a limited vinyl pressing and additional promo copies on CD and vinyl. For that reason, the album failed to reach any Billboard charts. The Source magazine, in one of the only reviews of the album published around its release, rated the album 3.5 mics out of 5, stating that the EP "has sparks of originality, but at the same time it remains in that realm of old school funk that laid the foundation for hip hop".[1] Although releasing a number of singles in following years, Jemini did not release another full album until he made a short-lived return in 2003 with the release of Ghetto Pop Life, a collaboration with producer Danger Mouse.
