Malik Isaac Taylor (20 November 1970 - 22 March 2016), better known by his stage name Phife Dawg, was an American rapper of Trinidadian descent from Queens, New York. Taylor was best known as a member of the acclaimed hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest. He was known nicknamed "The Five Foot Assassin" and "The Five Footer" because he stood at a height of 5 feet and 3 inches.

Taylor struggled with diabetes throughout his life after he was first diagnosed with having it in 1990. In the early hours of 23 March 2016, news spread through social media that Taylor had passed away. The news was confirmed by his family, who announced that he had died on 22 March 2016 due to complications from diabetes.[1]
