Lyte as a Rock is the debut studio album by American rapper MC Lyte, released in 1988 on First Priority Music and Atlantic Records. The album was produced by labelamtes Audio Two, Alliance and King of Chill, as well as an upcoming Prince Paul

The album was not as commercially successful as Lyte's later albums, only reaching #50 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. However, the album received critical acclaim, and spawned a successful single in the form of "Paper Thin".
