The Hot Boys (often styled as Hot Boy$) is an American hip hop group from New Orleans, Louisiana. The group consists of rappers B.G., Lil Wayne, Juvenile and Turk, who were all artists signed to Cash Money Records at the time of formation. The Hot Boys made their debut on B.G.'s 1997 solo album It's All on U, Vol. 1, and soon released their debut album Get It How U Live! in 1997.
Cash Money's distribution and pressing deal with Universal Records in 1998 enabled the group's members to release hugely successful solo albums in the two years following, except for Turk who did not release a solo album until 2001. In 1999, the Hot Boys' second album Guerrilla Warfare launched the group into superstardom after it topped the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #5 on the Billboard 200. Five weeks after the album released it had sold 1.5 million copies according to Lil Wayne in an 1999 interview and By 2003 the album was certified 3x platinum. In 2003, Juvenile, Turk, and B.G. had all departed Cash Money for financial mismanagement, leaving Lil Wayne as the sole group member still with the label. Cash Money was able to assemble a third Hot Boys album, titled Let 'Em Burn, using leftover songs recorded between 1998 and 2000.
The Hot Boys went on to have varying levels of success in their solo careers. Lil Wayne became the most prolific and accomplished member of the group, with all of his albums reaching at least a gold certification and earning a Cash Money boutique label Young Money Entertainment. The other three members went on to have limited success in their careers after leaving Cash Money. The Hot Boys have reunited at each others shows in the past few years, with their most recent appearance at Lil Wayne's Lil WeezyAna Fest in August 2015, though without B.G..
