Def Comedy Jam was a TV show that aired on HBO from 1992 - 1997. It was based on the hip hop label, hence its name. It featured talents from all parts of America, such as Chris Tucker, Bernie Mac, and many other talanted comedians. As the name of the show shows, you could expect hip hop music in the soundtrack, and a performance at the end of the show. It wasn't always hood but it could be hood at times.
The show was unrated before the 1996-1997 TV season and was TV-MA in its last season (since the show was R-rated), and had, according to HBO, GL -- graphic language, and AC -- adult content (doesn't mean what you think, it's just something PG-rated content and up has, it can range from anything, from life issues kids shouldn't be exposed to, etc). Every episode had constant use of expletives.
