Jamal Dewar (7 July 1993 - 24 December 2012), better known by his stage name Capital STEEZ, was an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York City. He was the co-founder of the Brooklyn-based hip hop collective Pro Era, along with friends Joey Bada$$, Powers Pleasant and CJ Fly. STEEZ was also a founding member of the Beast Coast movement, a loose collective consisting of the groups Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers.

Dewar first gained significant attention when he featured on the song "Survival Tactics" from Joey Bada$$'s mixtape 1999. He released his debut mixtape, AmeriKKKan Korruption, in 2012, but it failed to garner much acclaim. However, it was selected by MTV as the most overlooked mixtape of 2012,[1] and STEEZ was named as a rapper to watch out for in 2013 by HipHopDX.[2]

Dewar was described as a rapper with "a critical mind and a sharp eye for irony".[3] His lyrics were heavily inspired by elements of new age spirituality, Egyptian mysticism and numerology. Three days after the release of Pro Era's 2012 mixtape P.E.E.P: The aPROcalypse, he committed suicide at the age of nineteen by jumping from a building in Manhattan's Flatiron District.
