Michael Barnett (born 1971), better known by his stage name Big Mike, is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. He emerged on Rap-A-Lot Records as a member of the duo Convicts with 3-2, with whom he released the 1991 album Convicts. Big Mike almost signed to Death Row Records but was instead asked by Rap-A-Lot founder James Prince to join the Geto Boys as a replacement for Willie D, who had left the group. Big Mike's only appearances as a member of the Geto Boys are on the 1993 album Till Death Do Us Part, as Willie D rejoined the group after the album's release and Big Mike left. However, his membership in the group sparked his solo career, beginning with the 1994 release Somethin' Serious. He has since released five additional solo albums, with the most recent being Serious As Can Be in 2009.
