187 He Wrote is the second studio album by American rapper Spice 1. It was released on September 28, 1993 via Jive Records. Recording sessions took place at Battery Studios in New York City and at Kitchen Sync Studios, Dangerous Music, Hyde Street Studios, Rated Z Studioz and The Music Annez in Los Angeles through August 1992 to June 1993. Production was handled by Ant Banks, Mentally Blunted, E-A-Ski, CMT, MC Eiht, DJ Xtra Large, Prodeje, Too $hort and Jonny Z, with Chaz Hayes and 187 Fac serving as executive producers. It features guest appearances by MC Eiht, E-40, Havoc & Prodeje, Boss and Ant Banks.
The album peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts in the United States, making it Spice 1's highest charting album. Along with singles, music videos were made for the songs "Dumpin' Em in Ditches", "The Murda Show" and the song, "Trigga Gots No Heart", was originally featured in the movie Menace II Society and its soundtrack. 187 He Wrote is regarded by many fans and critics as one of the most influential gangsta rap albums and Spice 1's best work.
The album was later certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling over 500,000 copies in the United States.
